Adventure Day Guidelines
The Pathfinder 2e Core Rulebook suggests 6-8 encounters per adventuring day, with a mix of difficulties to create proper pacing and resource management.
š Early Day (Encounters 1-2)
Difficulty: Low to Moderate
Purpose: Warm up, establish tone
Resources: Light resource usage
āļø Mid Day (Encounters 3-5)
Difficulty: Moderate to Severe
Purpose: Main challenges, story beats
Resources: Moderate resource drain
š Climax (Encounters 6-8)
Difficulty: Severe to Extreme
Purpose: Climactic moments, boss fights
Resources: Heavy resource usage
Recommended Distributions
Balanced Mix:
2 Low, 3 Moderate, 1 Severe
Mostly Easy:
3 Low, 2 Moderate, 1 Severe
Challenging:
1 Low, 2 Moderate, 2 Severe, 1 Extreme
Daily Planning Tips
- Start with easier encounters to gauge party strength
- Place major story encounters in the middle of the day
- Save the most challenging encounters for the climax
- Include 1-2 trivial encounters for pacing and roleplay
- Plan rest opportunities between major encounters
- Adjust on the fly based on party performance
